2023 Cybersecurity Predictions

Cybersecurity will face serious problems in 2023 as the economics between attackers and defenders will drastically shift in favor of those who conduct attacks. Cybersecurity defenders will be outmatched by significant investments designed to identify ways to undermine the security of global digital systems. The high caliber research and development efforts by governments to develop offensive capabilities will filter down and across the entire digital ecosystem.

Simply put, defenders will be facing much better funded innovation and tools which create unprecedented cyber-attack capabilities, while simultaneously trying to justify their existing budgets during an economic downturn. This gives the worldwide community of attackers a significant advantage moving forward.

In 2023, the tenuous economic balance of the cybersecurity industry will be disrupted, setting the groundwork for a significant benefit to cyber attackers.
